Question by elegal7777: Does anyone know if the Marantz AMC1 Audyssey Microphone works with older models such as the Marantz Sr8500?
just curious as to if this microphone would have any “backwards compatibility” issues that may or may not be known.

I’d like to purchase an older model Marantz because its good sound quality minus a few new features and i would like to use the MRAC auto setup tools but as we know it requires a mic- sometimes i see sets for sale but i won’t purchase until i know that i can utilize the calibration tool. Somesr8500′s online ive seen don’t come with the mic because the seller either lost it or has not included the mic for some other reason…

I don’t think it is backwards compatible, but the only way I know to check (other than try it out) is to contact Marantz customer service at http://www.marantz.com. Click on country and then home support.

Question by Socrate: Has anyone bought or just seen in action the new Marantz’s BD players?
Do you think that with a Marantz Blu-ray disc player I would be able to see a significant difference (concerning contrast, movements of the images) compared to a Blu-ray Sony (an early model) whereas I have an InFocus projector In76 (720p, 3000:1 Contrast and 900 ANSI lumens) and an A/V receiver Marantz SR-6001?

With both players playing blu-ray, you won’t see any difference in image quality. The differences you’ll have will be mostly functionality like disc load times, flexibility, ability to play different disc and audio formats, and possibly DVD upscaling ability.

Any blu-ray player, old and new, cheap and expensive alike, will play blu-rays with roughly the same image quality over HDMI, because that is their basic function in common. The extra money and newer technology go into improving other aspects of a players features and functionality.
