Personally, I’d go for a pair of used Klipsch Heresy II’s. They should run you between 0 (craigslist) and 0(ebay).

The Klipsch Heritage line is still made entirely in the USA, a new pair of Heresy III’s will cost you about 00. The Heresy II was manufactured for 20 years by the oldest American speaker manufacturer. In fact they are more efficient than anything out there and just plain sound great. Klipsch has been making speakers for 62 years.

Question by robheather13: I’m thinking about buying a Marantz SR4001 Receiver?
I’m just an average joe, I want a decent surround sound in my new basement. I plan on watching alot of football and movies, nothing spectacular. Can I go wrong on buying this component? Also I was shown some Paradigm speakers…Whatcha think?

Nice choice. The Marantz line of receivers is becoming fantastic value for money. You’re getting HDMI outputs as well as video up-conversion from a piece that will last years. This line of receivers has a great sound quality, especially on entry level systems like the one you want, and they also a very easy receiver to set up and use.
If you get your room’s speaker locations wired correctly, then the Paradigm speakers will do just fine. There’s so many mid price range speakers on the market right now that it gets hard to choose. See if you can listen to them with the 4001 otherwise talk to a home theater professional in your area and see what other alternatives you may have.

Question by danes crazy: I need help to have the right choice,which really of them was the latest models of Marantz receivers ?
Mrarantz SR3100, SR4600, SR5100 or SR5600?
Because i try to search on the web for the marantz 5600,and i read a great written for it and has a good specification. But for the SR 3100 and for the SR 5100 i ca’nt really understand. Beacause last day when i go to the store try to find a latest Marantz receiver,the marantz salesman try to convince me to buy the marantz other ones which is the marantz SR3100 or the marantz SR5100 because they say this is the latest from the marantz. Personally i have decided to choose the Marantz SR5600,but when they told me what i said earlier,that the SR3100 and the SR5100 is there latest,i make my self time out first and make some research about the product they try to onvince me to puchase.Another one is i saw at the web that Marantz SR5100 produced late year of 80′s i dont know about the truth for this.If anybody can help me to solve my problem to hoose which from Marantz models SR3100,SR4600,SR5100 or SR5600 should i go?
i want to know the latest.

Once you know what you like, buy used gear on e-bay or factory refurbished. NEVER pay retail. On e-bay, you can buy a warranty to protect your investment. Only buy from people with high positive feedback ratings.
