Question by danes crazy: which do you prefer for the surround receiver a Sony STR-DG1000 or a Marantz SR-5600?

Both are GREAT receivers as far as CONNECTIVITY goes…But Sony is KNOWN for NOT having a decent AMPLIFIER section…The Marantz is going to have a MUCH better power supply in it…This will make your audio output SO MUCH cleaner than the Sony.

But you should go and listen to them BOTH to be sure…If the Sony’s CHEAPER and YOU can’t hear a difference, then go ahead and get the Sony…If you can’t tell, DON’T spend the extra money.

Question by Gastro: Do multi zone/multisource receivers like Integra 7.8 ,marantz 8002 require amplifiers for 2nd and 3rd zones ?
Would you know if 2nd and 3rd zone speakers need ampilification. 2nd zone is 4 poolside speakers and 3rd zone is 7 sets of speakers in the rest of the house. Zone one is the theater set up.

It depends if the receiver will allow to use certain channels for 2nd/3rd zone. Best to go to their website and download the owners manual. My receiver has 7 channels and it allow to use the 6 and 7 channel for 2nd zone.

You’ll need to contact Marantz. That’s a trouble code and their customer support folks can look it up and then tell you what to do about it.
